RSV Vaccinations
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is an infectious disease of the airways / lungs. The condition peaks in the winter but can occur all year round. It is usually mild but in susceptible groups it can lead to pneumonia and life-threatening conditions. Every year, thousands of older adults are admitted to hospital with RSV, and some die as a result of severe infection.
Almost all older adults will have had several RSV infections during their life-time. A single dose of the RSV vaccine will help boost protection against the virus and reduce the risk of complications and hospital admission.
Eligible patients are those turning 75 years old on or after 1 September 2024 up to the age of 80. For the first year of the programme, the vaccine will also be offered to those who also turn 80 by the end of August 2025.
We are holding a clinic at Cringleford Surgery on Saturday 21st September. This is not a walk in clinic, please contact us to get booked in.
